National Come and Try May

Come & Try May

Time: 9.00AM and 11.00AM

This is an event that is being coordinated by Shooting Australia to promote the various shooting disciplines of shooting sports across Australia.

ACT Full Bore Target Rifle (ACTFBTR) will be involved and it represents an excellent opportunity to come along, introduce a friend, colleague or a family member to fullbore target shooting.

Come and try May‘ has all the information about this Shooting Australia initiative to grow our sport.

ANZAC Day – .303 Shoot

MAJURA – adjacent to the SSAA RANGE
SUNDAY – 28 APRIL 2019

      • 11:00am start
      • Registration from 10:00am and closes 10.45am sharp
      • Deliberate – Snap – Rapid course of fire
      • Entry Fee: $25
      • Bring: water, optics, ear protection, sunscreen, pen, groundsheet or shooting mat and a hat
      • BBQ lunch ….(see full program)

Jim Reid – (OAM)

Congratulations to Jim Reid, honoured in the 2018 Queens Birthday awards.

In September the Governor General of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove presented Jim Reid the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to the sport of full bore shooting and his involvement with community work.

A member of the Canberra Rifle Club since 1965 Jim was awarded life membership in 1995 and has taken on many roles within the club over that time including:
  • role of Chief Custodian between 2009 and 2015
  • a committee member between 1971 and 2015
  • Vice Captain from 1986 and 1990
  •  a Member and past chair of the Social Committee, and
  • was instrumental on construction of the clubhouse (Reid House)
